The House with Chimeras

The House with Chimeras (Ukrainian Будинок з химерами / Budynok s Chymeramy; Russian Дом с химерами ) is a 1901-1902 built by the famous architect Władysław Horodecki building in Kiev, capital of Ukraine.

The building was built by Horodecki, who is also known as Gaudi of Kiev, in the Art Nouveau style. It is named after the chimeras on its facade.

Since 2005, the house serves as a residence of the President of Ukraine to align the official and diplomatic receptions.

Location

The House with Chimeras is located in the Kiev Innentadt on the Wulyzja Bankowa ( Вулиця Банкова ) 12 opposite the President's Office of Ukraine. The building was built into a hillside. From the front seen, the house seems to have only three floors, but in reality, it has six floors. On the lowest floor there are two stables, two rooms for coachman, two apartments and a laundry room. The two apartments each consist of a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and storage room as well as two or three rooms. The floors above consist of an apartment.
