Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment is a Mounted guard regiment of the British Army.

As part of the merger of the two Guard cavalry regiments, the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals, it was formed in 1992 and acts as an operational unit of the continuing formations, each with a squadron of the two regiments.

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment takes part in many important protocol-related events in the UK, for example at Trooping the Colour and ( served ) the annual opening of Parliament. Moreover, the regiment ( mounted during the day) guard at Horse Guards.

The regiment is quartered in the Hyde Park Barracks, Knightsbridge, at a distance of only about one kilometer from Buckingham Palace.
