Houston is a small town ( City ) in Houston County in southeastern Minnesota, one of the northern states of the United States.
It lies at the Root River approximately 30 kilometers from its mouth towards La Crosse in the Mississippi River.
On 19 August 2007, the city named after Sam Houston at the flood in the Midwest had to be evacuated as the flood was at a height of 5.80 meters only just below the dike height of 6 meters.
