Caledonia is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) and the administrative seat of Houston County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, Caledonia had 2868 inhabitants.

Geography

Caledonia is located in southeastern Minnesota, about 20 kilometers west of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Wisconsin. The border with Iowa is located approximately 20 km south. The geographic coordinates of Caledonia are 43 ° 37'59 " north latitude and 91 ° 29'47 " west longitude. The city covers an area of 7.36 km ².

History

After the area was settled in the mid-19th century by the first white men in 1855 has been set up a post office. 1870, the place was first incorporated as the Village of Caledonia. After 1879 a railway station of the Milwaukee Road was built, the clay deposits in the area for the production of bricks were used.
