Rochester International Airport ( IATA: RST, ICAO: KRST ) is an airport located southwest of Rochester in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In addition to a general terminal FedEx also have a private terminal and a DHL dispatch station. The number of handled passengers annually is around 316 900.

History

Rochester International Airport was founded in 1928 by the Mayo Foundation for a comfortable journey to offer the patients who had a greater distance to cover. Northwest Airlines was the first airline with flights to its hub at Minneapolis -St. Paul. 1940 the runways were paved and expanded the airport to its present size. During World War II, the U.S. Army led from practice flights from Rochester Airport. In 1945, the Mayo Foundation, the airport of the city of Rochester, the flight operation but was still conducted by the Rochester Airport Company. 1960, the airport in Rochester Municipal Airport was renamed. After the airport in 1995 received a customs office, he was named Rochester International Airport. In 2005, the main take-off and landing runway was extended to a length of 2,753 meters.
