Howard Zieff

Howard Zieff ( born October 21, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, † February 22, 2009 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American photographer and film director. Its most well known film Private Benjamin in 1981 was nominated for three Oscars.

Life

Zieff grew up in East Los Angeles in the Boyle Heights district. After a year studying art at the Los Angeles City College, he went into the Navy in 1946 and studied photography at the Naval Photography School in Pensacola, Florida. After leaving the Navy visited Zieff the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and briefly worked as a cameraman at a local television station. In the 50s he began to work in the advertising industry in New York City as a photographer. He turned many commercials for American television and returned the beginning of the 70s back to Los Angeles to be directing his first feature film spin game. Over the next 20 years, followed by eight more film productions. Beginning of the 90s became ill with Parkinson Zieff and went after the completion of My Girl 2 in 1994 to retire. In February 2009, he died of his illness.
