Howz

Houz or Howz (Persian حوض, DMG Houz, hoʊz ) is characterized in traditional Persian architecture, a centrally located pool of water in a garden.

In the courtyard ( Sahn ) a mosque serves a Houz the Ablutionen (ritual ablutions, see Wudu ʾ ). In the yard (traditional ) private houses he usually met purely aesthetic functions and is used for air cooling. The Houz constitutes an essential element of the Persian garden.
