Hradec-Nová Ves

Hradec - Nová Ves ( German Groeditz -Neudorf ) is a municipality with 302 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. The place is located in 364 m asl in the valley of Biela twelve kilometers northeast of the county town of Jesenik and halfway to Głuchołazy. In the neighboring village situated below Mikulovice a border crossing to Poland.

History

The first mention of the town was 1351st The name was derived from the Polish Groeditz grodzič ( protect, small fortress ). Neudorf was created in 1685 by the division of one of the Mikulovice courtyards. This farm was uneconomical and therefore was divided on the instructions of administration of goods of the diocese of Breslau. 1848 both communities were pooled. At that time there lived mainly German. On 1 December 1930, the municipality Groeditz 931 inhabitants, on 17 May 1939 were 919 and 22 May 1947 were 537 residents. The Germans were expropriated in 1945 and sold.
