Trinity Church

Famous is the site of the Romanesque Trinity Church, which was built on a hill near the village center. It was built in the 12th and 13th centuries. In the 16th century it was surrounded by a defensive wall as protection against Turks and Uskoks.

The interior of the church is painted with medieval peasant frescoes that were discovered in 1949 and exposed. They show scenes from the Old Testament ( Genesis ) and scenes from the life of Jesus. In addition, the three kings, saints and other local dignitaries are presented. The church is best known for her Dance of Death fresco of the Istrian painter Johannes from Kastav ( 1490 ). Under it there is an inscription written in Glagolitic script.
