Hrysopiyi Devetzi

Chrysopigi Devetzi (Greek Χρυσοπηγή Δεβετζή, also Hrysopiyí Devetzi; born January 2, 1976 in Alexandroupolis ) is a Greek long and triple jumper who won an Olympic silver medal in 2008 and a bronze medal in the triple jump in 2004.

As a child Chrysopigi Devetzi was a gymnast, later she turned to athletics. Since 1992 she has been active in the triple jump, 2001, she jumped for the first time over 14 meters. According to a seventh place at the European Championships in 2002 and an eighth place finish at the 2003 World Championships in 2004, their most successful year.

At the World Indoor Championships in 2004, she won the bronze medal with 14.73 meters behind the Russian Tatjana Lebedeva and starting for Sudan Yamilé Aldama. In the qualification of the triple jump competition at the Olympic Games in Athens, she jumped 15.32 meters Greek national record. In the finals she reached 15.25 meters, which won the silver medal behind Françoise Mbango Etone from Cameroon ( 15.30 m).

At the World Championships 2005 Devetzi with 14.64 meters fifth.

In the first experiment of the finals at the European Championships in 2006 she jumped 15.05 meters, but had to settle for silver, Tatyana Lebedeva jumped on the last attempt. In the long jump competition of these European Championships she finished tenth. At the World Championships 2007 Devetzi won the bronze medal with 15.04 meters.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 her again succeeded in winning the bronze medal with a distance of 15.23 meters behind Françoise Mbango Etone ( 15.39 meters) and Tatyana Lebedeva ( 15.32 meters).

Chrysopigi Devetzi has a competition weight of 60 kg at a height of 1.70 m.
