HTML TIME

HTML TIME ( Timed Interactive Multimedia Extensions ) was the name for a submission to the W3C by the companies Microsoft, Compaq / DEC and Macromedia, which had integration of SMIL semantics in HTML and CSS on the topic. The details of the integration were changed after the submission to a significant extent by working groups of the W3C and came finally as a W3C Note XHTML SMIL in appearance. The submission also suggested new animation and timing functions, which (with amendments) in SMIL found 2.0 feed.

Microsoft modified the in-house implementation in IE 5.5, so that it corresponded to the largest part of the W3C Note, however, continues to use the name of HTML TIME, to denote the corresponding functions.
