Hubei Institute of Fine Arts

The University of the Arts Hubei (Chinese:湖北 美术 学院), in the English language as Hubei Institute of Fine Arts is known, is the oldest art school in China. It is one of the four major art colleges in addition to the College of Arts Sichuan, Chongqing, the Central Academy of Fine Arts (中央 美术 学院) in Beijing and the Chinese University of the Arts (中国 美术 学院) in Hangzhou.

History

The University of the Arts Hubei is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province. It was founded in 1920 for the first time as a private institution under the name of Wuchang College of Fine Arts. During the war with Japan, the college moved from 1937 to 1945 at the Sichuan Province. After the war it was moved back to Wuchang. Since 1985, it is called College of Arts Hubei. This is now the most important art school of the China's Hubei province.

Courses

The main subject areas include fine arts and design. The Faculty of Liberal Arts includes the following disciplines: oil painting, sculpture, animation, ceramics and printing technology. The Department of Design includes the following disciplines: fashion design, interior architecture and graphic design.
