Hubert Pirker

Hubert Pirker ( born October 3, 1948 in Rennweg ) is an Austrian educationalist, lobbyist and politician ( ÖVP). He is a member of the European Parliament.

Life

Hubert Pirker ruled in 1967 training as a primary school teacher at the College of Education from. Then he made a study of mathematics and physical education to become a teacher, which he completed in 1973. From 1977 to 1982 he studied education at the University of Klagenfurt.

From 1982 to 1993 he was professor of education and teaching science at the Pedagogical Academy in Klagenfurt. In 1982, he was communications and management trainer. There followed in 1984 a research commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Science and Research with the title New Media in education in Austria. From 1993 to 1996 he was the EU Commissioner of the Regional School Board for Carinthia. In the years 2004-06 he was chairman of the Stability Pact Initiative Against Organized Crime.

Political career

He was State Chairman of ÖAAB Carinthia in 1989. From 1990 to 1994 he was a security spokesman for the ÖVP. From 1990 to 1994 he was a Member of Parliament. In the first European elections in Austria 1996 he was elected to the European Parliament, where he served until 2004. In 2006 he received a mandate and as runners- up to the 2009 European election was again a deputy. In 2011 he moved, again as substitutes for the third time in the parliament. He currently is a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism and the special committee on organized crime, corruption and money laundering. Since 2004 he has been state party Vice Chairman of the ÖVP Kärnten.
