Hudson Soft Company, Limited was a Japanese manufacturer of video games, founded on May 18, 1973. In March 2012 the company was taken over by Konami.

History

Although Hudson had already begun in 1975 with the manufacture and distribution of some products for the PC, the company achieved significant success until 1984, when it began with the development of video games for the Famicom (NES ). From Hudson's first Famicom title, Lode Runner, 1.2 million units were sold. Hudson also entered into a joint venture with NEC to produce the family consoles Turbografx -16 ( North America ) and PC Engine (Japan). After a long history of developing games for Nintendo consoles to Hudson merged with NCL and founded the joint venture Manegi Corporation in May 1998. Since April 2005 Konami include 53.99 % of the shares of Hudson Soft. On 20 January 2011 it was announced that Konami wants to completely take over the studio on April 1, 2011. On March 1, the studio was merged with Konami Digital Entertainment, and thus formally dissolved.

Hudson's most famous video game series is the Bomberman series, published by the games on all major platforms. The popular, marketed by Nintendo Mario Party series was developed by Hudson Soft.

Hudson Soft also developed a PC version of the game called Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. Special.

Also Bloody Roar Bloody Roar Primal Fury 1-4 and Bloody Roar Extreme comes from the Hudson home. Another well-known game of the developer is Nectaris.
