Hugh II, Count of Ponthieu

Hugh II († 1052 ) was a Count of Ponthieu out of the house Ponthieu. He was a son of Count Enguerrand I of Ponthieu.

While still alive, his father married Hugo 1035 Bertha, daughter of Guérinfrid and heiress of the Norman border castle Aumale. Their common children were:

  • Enguerrand II († 1053 )
  • Guido I ( † 1100)
  • Hugo 'noble heir of Ponthieu "
  • Waleran († 1054, killed at the Battle of Mortemer )
  • N.N. Daughter, ∞ with Count William of Arques

Hugh II reinforced the relationship of his family to neighboring Normans by his eldest son married a sister of Duke William II and his daughter to Count William of Arques. He himself was murdered in 1052 and then buried in the Abbey of Saint -Riquier.
