Hughes Tool Company

The Hughes Tool Company was founded in 1909 by Howard Robard Hughes, Sr.. Initially, they mainly provided Spezialbohrköpfe ago, expanded its product range but continuously. With the death of Hughes senior the company went into the possession of his son Howard Hughes junior, who was a student at Rice University back then.

1932 Howard Hughes founded the junior subsidiary Hughes Aircraft. 1936 Hughes Aircraft was eventually detached from the parent company.

In 1972, the tool division of Hughes Tool Company was sold. While the tools division continue operating under the name of Hughes Tool Company, the remaining companies remainder was renamed Summa Corporation.

1987 merged the Hughes Tool Company and Baker International to Baker Hughes.
