Hugo Häring

Hugo Häring ( May 22nd, 1882 in Biberach an der Riss, † May 17 1958 in Göppingen ) was a German architect and architectural theorist.

Haring is considered one of the main initiators of the new style. His observations and thoughts on architecture are among the basic fundamentals of organic architecture that took up most of the architect Hans Scharoun ( as in the Berlin Philharmonic Hall ).

Life

Hugo Häring was born the son of a master carpenter in Biberach an der Riss. After graduation in 1899 he began studying architecture at the Technische Hochschule Stuttgart (including with Theodor Fischer), which he completed in 1903 by the state exam. In between, he joined in 1901 /02 to the Technical University in Dresden, where he heard Cornelius Gurlitt, Fritz Schumacher, Paul Wallot. After his studies he was 1903/ 04 operates in Ulm as an architect, then he moved to Hamburg to 1914 (including 1912 employees at architect Gustav CE Blohm ). During World War II he worked between different military service assignments 1915-16 as architect for the reconstruction of East Prussia in Olsztyn. 1918 marriage to actress Emilia Unda and moved to Berlin. Member of the November Group. 1924 Participation in the great Berlin architecture exhibition. 1926 Foundation of the Association of Architects The ring. Haring was secretary of the association. 1932 Participation in the Werkbund exhibition in Vienna. 1935 takeover of the school Reimann ( renamed under Häring in: Art and work - Private School for Design ) in Berlin. After the school was heavily damaged by bombing in 1943, Haring returned to his home town of Biberach. In 1950 he married the actress Roma State Railway. On May 17, 1958 Haring died in Göppingen.

Haring had a joint office with the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe before it gained world fame in his early years later.

After Häring awarded the 1969 Hugo Häring Award is named for exemplary buildings in Baden- Württemberg.
