Hugo Salus

Hugo Salus ( born August 3, 1866 in Bohemian Leipa; † February 4, 1929 in Prague) was a Bohemian doctor and German-speaking writer.

Life

Salus, son of a veterinary officer, studied medicine in Prague and was just there as a gynecologist after his graduation in 1895 down.

In addition to his medical career, he has published numerous books of poetry and short stories and was one of the more important representatives of German Prague literature of his time: he was also a member of the Writers and Artists Concordia. Heinrich Vogeler illustrated some of his books, like something the consolation booklet for childless, and Arnold Schoenberg set to music two poems.

In 1955 ( 22nd District ) was named after him in the Salusgasse Vienna Danube city.
