Huguang Guild Hall

The Beijing Huguang Guild Hall (Beijing Huguang Huiguan ) or Beijing Huguang Assembly Hall is a famous theater in the Beijing Opera ( Jingju ) and a historically important venue in Beijing's Xuanwu District (or today Xicheng ). It is located at the eastern end of the Luomashi Street.

The venue was set up in 1807 in the Jiaqing era of the Qing dynasty as a theater and was at the height of her fame with the Zhengyici Peking Opera Theater ( Zhengyici Xilou ) as one of the " Four Great Theater" on the whole capital known. Many famous Chinese opera performer from past and present have played here.

On 25 August 1912, the Chinese Nationalist Party ( Kuomintang or KMT ) was founded in the guild hall at a congress of the listed by Sun Yat-sen 's Revolutionary Alliance ( Tongmenghui ) and several smaller pro- revolutionary parties. Together they formed the Kuomintang to fight for the first national parliamentary elections in the Republic of China. Sun, the former interim president of the Republic, was elected as party chairman with Huang Xing as his deputy.

The entire complex is spread over a large area, to the most important buildings include opera building, Wenchang building, Xiangxian Temple and Chuwan Hall. The theater is known for its magnificent interior. In the Huguang Guild hall is also a small Peking Opera Museum, which depicts the rich history of Peking Opera at the theater.

The theater is on the list of monuments of Beijing City Government Immediate ( 3-57 ).

In the well-known feature song for the 100 - day countdown to the 2008 Summer Olympics (Beijing ni huanying ) provides that the artist JJ Lin & A-Do on at this venue.
