Human Rights Logo

The Logo for Human Rights emerged from the 2010 initiative formed international A logo for human rights. The aim was to establish an internationally recognized logos in support of the global human rights movement.

The winning logo

The winning logo was Predrag Stakic from Serbia and combines the silhouette of an open hand with a bird ( dove ). It is to be understood as a peaceful contribution to strengthening human rights and as such find all the cultural and linguistic boundaries dissemination.

Expiration

The idea of the initiative in Germany on 3 May 2011 was moderated by Michael Mitter Meier. In addition, Waris Dirie, Erik Spiekermann and German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle were present.

The focus of the initiative, the worldwide acceptance of the logos was through participation and legitimacy. Therefore it was not an Internet competition from May 3 of 2011 ( World Press Freedom Day ) proposals for a logo to be submitted. Out of more than 15,300 proposals from more than 190 countries a jury selected from July 2011, the top ten. From these ten logos choosing the winning logo was held on the internet between 27 August and 17 September 2011.

The competition ended on 23 September 2011.

Presentation of the winning logos

The presentation of the winning logo was on September 23, 2011 at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York and was the former editor of the Times Magazine, Michael Elliott, moderated. The journalist Ann Curry, the German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle and human rights activist Carolyn Gomes Jamaica and Angelina Atyam from Uganda emphasized in their verbal contributions of the importance of a universal symbol of the global fight for human rights. There was a musical contribution of Jessye Norman. The winning design is from the 33 -year-old graphic designer Predrag Stakic from Belgrade.
