Hummuli Parish

Hummuli ( German: Hummelshof ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian Valga County with an area of ​​162.7 km ². It has 1060 inhabitants (1 January 2006).

In addition to the main town Hummuli (432 inhabitants) includes the parish villages Aitsra, Alamõisa, Jeti, Kulli, Piiri and Puide.

Hummuli was first documented in 1226 in a sharing agreement between the Bishop of Tartu and the Teutonic Order ( Terra Humularia ). Worth seeing is the manor of Hummuli, the first evidence of 1470 come. Here took place on July 19, 1702 between the armies of the Swedish king Charles XII. and the army of the Tsar of Russia, Peter the Great at the battle Hummelshof instead. The present building was built in the second half of the 19th century. A little later, a tower was added. Since 1930, a school is located in the house.
