Humphrey Stafford, Earl of Stafford

Humphrey Stafford (* 1424, † 1459 ) was a member of a family of the English aristocracy. He was known by the courtesy title Earl of Stafford.

Life

Stafford's parents were Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham and Anne Neville, Cecily Neville, and thus a sister in-law of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York.

Like his father, Humphrey faithful followers of Lancaster King Henry VI. in its conflict with the representative of the house of York, Richard Plantagenet. The outbreak of the Wars of the Roses Humphrey followed the royal army and fought on 22 May 1455 the First Battle of St Albans, in the raided his father.

Humphrey and Margaret had two sons together:

  • Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham
