Hymns to Mary

The Marian Antiphon is addressed to the Mother of God singing in the liturgy of the Catholic Church. The term antiphon has become common, although it is strictly speaking not an antiphonal singing, although earlier, followed by a short responsory and an Oration on the chorale.

In the Liturgy of the Hours, the liturgical time is sung after vespers in the church year corresponding Marian antiphon as a final song after Compline or, if the Vespers is celebrated in the last Community Hore, :

The Marian antiphons Sub tuum praesidium which also belongs ( "Under your protection and shield "). From the melodies of the antiphons as well as the Marian Hymenen there is one solemn and a simplified form. The self rites of some religious have their own versions of the notation of some Marian antiphons, such as the Dominicans have their own version of the Salve Regina.
