Hynek Fajmon

Hynek Fajmon ( born May 17, 1968 in Nymburk ) is a Czech politician and since 2004 a member of the European Parliament for the Občanská demokratická strana, as a member of the Group of the European People's Party and European Democrats.

Fajmon 1992 received his MA at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. Later he visited the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and the London School of Economics and in 1994 was active until 1997 as a diplomat. In 1998, he acted as a consultant on the Minister of Defense on issues relating to NATO.

Fajmon political career began in 1990 when he became a member of the town council of Lysa nad Labem an office which he still clothed. In 1991 he became a member of Občanská demokratická strana and belongs since 2001 to the Executive Council of the party. After Fajmon nad since 1996 Member of the Council of Lysa is Labem, he was from 1998 to 2001 mayor of the city.

2001-2004 Fajmon belonged to the Czech Chamber of Deputies. There he was a member of the Committee for European Integration in the same period. From 2003 Fajmon was also an observer in the European Parliament.

2004 Fajmon became a member of the European Parliament in the wake of EU accession of the Czech Republic.
