41.211111111111 - 124.00277777778Koordinaten: 41 ° 12 ' 40 "N, 124 ° 0' 10" W The Hyperion is currently considered the tallest tree in the world (as of 2007 ). It is a coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) in the Redwood National Park in California with 115.55 m Height. The tree was named after the Titans Hyperion in Greek mythology.

Hyperion was discovered on September 8, 2006 by Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor. The tree height was confirmed by the tree researcher Steve Sillett. His status as the highest tree in the world, he was finally in 2007; he overtook Stratosphere Giant ( 112.87 m), which is also a coast redwood.

Because coastal redwoods are extremely shallow roots and soil compaction by visitor can damage the roots of the tree, the exact location of the tree will not be published. It is therefore only the location of the forest, but do not know the the tree.
