Diamond bar ( Hypsibarbus pierrei )

The diamond bar ( Hypsibarbus pierrei ) is a Southeast Asian carp fish and spread from Thailand to Malaysia and Cambodia to Vietnam. In Malay it is called Kerai Kunyit. He lives as potamodromer migratory fish in medium to large rivers.

Features

The diamond bar reaches a size of 30 cm and has a high-backed body. Diagnostic features of the type are four horizontal rows of scales between the lateral line and the shed row on the middle line of the back at the beginning of the dorsal fin, a sawed last unbranched dorsal fin ray with 15 to 19 teeth and five to eight gill rakers on the lower branch of the first gill arch.

Attitude

In Germany the diamond bar is only held in the Zoo Leipzig in Gondwanaland.
