IBM Connections

IBM Connections is a social software from IBM; it is 2.0 provide the functionality of the so-called Web for business customers.

IBM Connections was announced by IBM at the event Lotusphere 2007 as a Lotus Connections. With version 3.0.1 it has been renamed to IBM Connections. The latest version 4.5 was released in March 2013.

Functionality

The components in IBM Connections are integrated with each other. Information can be combined and evaluated between the components. So it is possible, for example, based on information in weblogs or social bookmarks ( DogEar ) access to its creator and to ask this person about online community specific questions.

All IBM Connections documents are tagged and can be found by users pursuant to this day.

Users can set up RSS feeds to their clients and be informed according to their settings to new posts.

IBM internally are the Profiles under the name Blue Pages has long been in use.

Communities

Blogs

Personal or group blogs can be maintained and come with tags.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks (formerly DogEar ) are social bookmarks, which allow an additional add-on in the browser a simple marker of the content.

Activities

About Activities can be activities of individuals and groups organize. This includes the exchange of documents, mails, chats, bookmarks and other project information. Each post may again be marked by tags.

Files

Files allows easy sharing of documents with colleagues via a central web platform. These files can be tagged and either the public or specific individuals only be made available.

Forum

Forums provide a way for online discussions in which to share and discuss human issues, experiences and issues of common interest. Forums can be moderated.
