IBM Visual Age

IBM Visual Age is an integrated development environment from IBM for the most common languages ​​such as C, C , Smalltalk and Java. In addition, there is a plugin which is called VisualAge Generator, and what Smalltalk, that is also available for the Java environment for both, and which serves to develop in a Cobol -like 4GL programming language host applications for IBM computer. This one has the possibility to generate source code in different languages ​​such as Cobol, C or Java, where the name " generator " comes. This went on in the WebSphere Studio Enterprise Developer in the Eclipse era. The 4GL language used is now called Enterprise Generation Language (EGL ).

Almost all VisualAge products were implemented in VisualAge for Smalltalk.

IBM Visual Age for Java has now been replaced by the open-source Eclipse project that provides for the IBM Rational Application Developer with a powerful extension.
