Ibn al-Banna' al-Marrakushi

Ibn al -Banna 'al- Marrakuschi (Arabic ابن البناء المراكشي, DMG Ibn al -Banna al - ʾ Marrākušī; * December 1256 in Marrakech, † July 31, 1321 ), Abu Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Uthman al - Azdi / أبو أحمد بن محمد بن عثمان الأزدي / Abū Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. ʿ Uthman al - azdi, was a Moroccan mathematician and astronomer.

He was the son of an architect and became acquainted with his mathematical and geometrical knowledge by the translation of Euclid's Elements into Arabic.

He wrote treatises on 51-74 algebra, astronomy, linguistics, rhetoric and logic.

In his honor, the lunar crater Al- Marrakushi 1976 was named.
