Ibn Zaydún

Abu al - Walid ibn Ahmad al - Zaidun Machzumi (. Arabic أبو الوليد أحمد بن زيدون المخزومي, DMG Abū al - Waleed al - Aḥmad Zaidūn Maḫzūmī; * 1003 in Córdoba, † 1071 ), short- Ibn Zaidun ( ابن زيدون ), was an Arab poet in al -Andalus.

Ibn Zaidun was born in 1003 in Córdoba. He came from a family which traced its origin to the Quraysh of Mecca. Reputation as a poet, he won among the Dschahwariden in Córdoba. By unrequited love for the Umayyad princess Wallada he came into conflict with the vizier Ibn Abdus and was imprisoned. The love poems from prison gained great fame, even if the princess decided to competitors of Ibn Zaidun.

After fleeing from Córdoba, return and new disgrace he was called by the Abbadids al - Mutamid according Sevilla and appointed vizier. With its connections to Cordoba it is to have the subjugation of the city supported by the Abbadids. However, he could find no peace even at the court because he was sent into exile again after an intrigue of Ibn Ammar al- Mutamid, where he died.
