Ä°brahim Kaypakkaya

İbrahim Kaypakkaya ( * 1949 in the province of Çorum, Turkey, † May 18 1973 in Diyarbakır ) was a Turkish revolutionary and founder of the Communist Party of Turkey / Marxist-Leninists.

Kaypakkaya was born in 1949 in the Turkish province of Çorum and grew up in poverty and rural conditions. He first attended the primary school teacher training in Central Anatolia and took the mid-1960s, a physics major at Istanbul University on. During this time he became a member of the Maoist Revolutionary Workers and Peasants Party of Turkey ( " Türkiye İhtilalci ISCI Köylü Partisi ", TIIKP ). After organisationsinternem dispute in which he was defeated, he founded also Maoist, but anti- Kemalist and separatist -oriented Communist Party of Turkey / Marxist Leninist ( TKP / ML) and later its armed wing, the Workers 'and Peasants' Liberation Army of Turkey ( TIKKO ).

In January 1973 Kaypakkaya and his guerrillas were wiped out in the mountainous region Tuncelis in combat with the Turkish army. Several of his comrades were killed or captured. He himself was wounded but managed to escape first. A few days later, he was arrested by an indication of a teacher. Kaypakkaya died on May 18, 1973 Order before a conviction. Since then, he is an icon and role model for the supporters of the leftist movement.
