IC 2391

IC 2391 (also known as Omicron Velorum Cluster) is an open cluster in the constellation Vela. It has been 964 described by the Persian astronomer Abd al-Rahman al- Sufi for the first time. It was also on February 11, 1752 by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille found and cataloged as Lac II 5. The cluster is about 500 light-years away from Earth and can be seen with the naked eye. IC 2391 has an apparent magnitude of 2.5. The open cluster has a diameter of 50 arc minutes and includes 30 stars. He is about as old as the star cluster IC 2602nd
