IC 2944 (English Running Chicken Nebula also ) called an emission nebula with eingebettem star cluster in the constellation Centaurus, which is listed in the index catalog. The fog is the result of one of the Milky Way H II region, which is about 2000 parsecs ( 6500 light years) is removed and thus in the Sagittarius arm, the next inner spiral arm of the Milky Way.
The most prominent feature of this region are some dark cocoons, called globule or globules accurate than Thackeray, in which stars are formed.
