Icarus is an impact crater on the side of the moon and therefore can not be observed directly from Earth. It is located west of the giant crater Korolev. The crater Daedalus is located less than 200 kilometers to the west and south complements the smaller craters Amici the image.

Icarus has a worn crater rim with a fairly wide inner wall. The outer wall is slightly bulged outwards in the southwest and on the southern ridge shows a small crater. Near the center of the crater floor is an unusually high central mountain rises. This extends beyond the crater rim, while usually reach the summit crater inside only half of the crater depth. The rest of the crater floor is in its eastern half is relatively flat, and westward to something irregular.
