Ida Bieler

Ida Bieler (* in Virginia, USA) is a force acting in Germany and Austria violinist and violin teacher.

Musical Career

Her musical education she received, among others by Ruggiero Ricci, Oscar Schumsky at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, Max Rostal in Cologne and Nathan Milstein in London. From 1982 to 1988 she was the concertmaster of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. She was a member of the Melos Quartet. In 2001, she founded the Trio Xyrion and 2003, the Heine Quartet. From 1988 to 1993 she was a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main, since 1993 she has been professor at the Robert- Schumann-Hochschule in Dusseldorf, where she conducts master classes in violin. In addition, she is a professor of violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.

Awards and prizes

Ida Bieler has received numerous prizes and awards, such as the Echo Klassik Prize and the Cannes Classical Award. Other prizes include the Concert Artists Guild Award (New York), Vittorio Gui Prize for Chamber Music (Florence), International Violin Competition Dr. Luis Sigall in Vina del Mar / Chile ( silver medal ).

Her repertoire currently includes all violin works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Anton Reicha, Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Antonín Dvořák, Béla Bartók, Paul Hindemith and Krzysztof Penderecki. The following plates are of her published (selection):
