History

The company Maniatopoulos Bros S. A. Founded in 1926 in the port city of Patras and imported bicycles and motorcycles to Greece, later the company began producing their own bikes, for since 1977 the brand name Ideal used. 1991, the production moved in to a 23,500 m² large area in Agios Vasileios a suburb of Patras. 2006 Great main sponsor and namesake of the mountain bike team Varese (today: Ideal Racing Team). The team Zwillingscraft won the Bike Transalp 2006/2007 on Race Pro Carbon wheels of Ideal Bike. In collaboration with the University of Patras, the company is working on a public bicycle rental system for Patras.

Activities

The company is engaged in the design and manufacture of bicycles and wheels. The products are arranged in the mid to upper price segment, while some are also simpler wheels on offer for the local market.

Team

Ideal supported the Austrian Volksbank team in his first year as a professional team, which went as Volksbank- Ideal this season. The Latvian team Rietumu Bank -Riga is sponsored by Ideal and changed its name initially as Rietumu Bank -Riga - ideal. Trivia

The owner's family had founded an automobile plant in 1979 in collaboration with Renault, which manufactured under the name of MAVA -Renault pick-ups; In 1985, the company was dissolved.
