Idina Menzel

Idina Menzel ( * May 30, 1971 in Queens, New York City than Idina Kim Mentzel ) is an American musical artist and film actress. She gained international recognition in particular through their engagement as " Elphaba " in the original cast of the Broadway production of the musical Wicked - The Witches of Oz

Biography

Idina Menzel grew up as the daughter of Helene and Stuart Mentzel and older sister of Cara Mentzel on Long Iceland on. The fact that she writes her last name differently than that of their parents (without " t" ) results from the fact that she wanted to avoid the mispronunciation of her name.

She was educated at New York University 's Tisch School of the Arts, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Although she began her training in music, she later switched to acting aspect. In 1996 she celebrated her Broadway debut as " Maureen " in the musical Rent.

Career
