IEC 61970

The IEC 61970 (Energy management system application program interface (EMS - API )) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) describes a programming interface Application Programming Interface ( API) for energy management systems (EMS). The standard series is still in progress.

An important part of the series of standards is the Common Information Model (CIM). The CIM modeled objects and data exchange formats of the transmission, distribution and generation of electrical energy as well as between trading platforms and is standardized as UML model. The CIM represents (IEC 61968 ) the basis for other standardization projects of IEC. A harmonization with the IEC 61850 standard could in future lead an integrated modeling and data exchange from the primary equipment of the substation telecontrol and remote network control technology to all applications for energy management systems.

  • IEC 61970-401 component interface specification (CIS ) framework (working as of 9.2005 )
  • IEC 61970-501 Common Information Model Resource Description Framework ( RDF CIM ) schema ( work status 3.2006 )
