Ignacio Ramonet

Ignacio Ramonet ( born May 5, 1943 in Redondela, Spain ) is a Spanish journalist and media scholar. He is Honorary President of Attac and co-organizer of the World Social Forum.

Life

Ignacio Ramonet spent his youth in Tangier. He studied engineering and sociology in Bordeaux, Rabat and Paris. He received his doctorate from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in specialist semiotics. Since 1972 he works in France.

Ramonet teaches the subject "Theory of Audiovisual Communication" at the University Denis Diderot in Paris. From 1991 to March 2008 he was Director of appearing in Paris monthly newspaper for international affairs Le Monde diplomatique. Since then, he directs the Spanish edition of this newspaper.
