Ignaz Jastrow

Ignaz Jastrow (* September 13 1856 in Nakel on the networks; † May 2, 1937 in Berlin- Charlottenburg ) was a German historian and social policy.

Life

Ignaz Jastrow studied history, law and political sciences in Breslau and Berlin and received his doctorate in 1878 at the University of Göttingen Dr. phil. From 1879 he worked as a teacher at various schools in Berlin. From 1881 editor and director of several journals, including the "social practice ". After his Habilitation in history, he taught as a lecturer at the Berlin University.

Dr. Jastrow 1893 coined the term " social liberalism " was a member of the Association for Social Policy and founded in 1897 the journal "The labor market ". In it, he published the first of his municipal and other community service certificates ( placement services ) reported vacancies, job seekers and agencies and organized the first Labor Exchange conference in Germany. In 1898 he was one of the founders of the Association of German labor exchanges (VDA).

1905 Dr. Jastrow associate professor of Administrative Science at the Friedrich- Wilhelms- University was appointed. 1906 to 1914 he was professor at the Graduate School of Berlin and in the years 1906-1909 at the same time their founding rector. Because of his Jewish background, Dr. Jastrow was appointed in 1920 as full professor of political science at the Humboldt University ( until 1924 ). However, his teaching, he finished only in 1935 after 50 years.

Ignaz Jastrow published solely to the labor market, unemployment, unemployment insurance and employment services to more than 200 books, articles and newspaper articles. His daughter Elisabeth Jastrow was an archaeologist.
