Ikeda (Kagawa)

Ikeda (Japanese池田 町, -chō ) was a town in the ShoZu -gun in the Japanese prefecture of Kagawa.

Geography

Ikeda is on the same Ikeda Bay on the island Shodoshima in the Japanese Inland Sea.

History

The Mura Ikeda (池田 村, -mura ) was born on 15 February 1890, was appointed on 5 May 1929 for Chō.

On 21 March 2006, Ikeda was merged with Uchinomi to the new Chō Shodoshima (小豆 岛 町).

Festivals

On 10 October is the usual local holiday in Ikeda. It will be listed among other farmers on the day kabuki plays.

Traffic

In Ikeda ferries Ferry International Ltd.. from to Takamatsu. The National Highway 436 runs along the southern coast of Tonosho about Ikeda and Uchinomi by Fukuda. As the National Highway 436 between Ikeda and Uchinomi not follows the coastline, it is possible in Ikeda, to get on a side road to Jizozaki Lighthouse, located at the southernmost point of the island Shodoshima.
