Ilan Shalgi

Ilan Schalgi (Hebrew אילן שלגי, born July 13, 1945 in the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine ) is an Israeli lawyer, politician and former Knessetabgeordeter.

Biography

Schalgi did his military service in the IDF, where he served as a lieutenant colonel. He studied law at Tel Aviv University.

He was a member of the Tel Aviv District Disciplinary Court and the National Supreme Court and the Israel Bar Association (IBA) Hebrew לשכת עורכי הדין בישראל 1986-1995.

In July 2004 he was appointed Minister of Science, Culture and Sports in Ariel Sharon's government cabinet. October 2004, he was Minister of the Environment.
