Plate (French Île plate, english disk Iceland ) is one belonging to the Republic of the Seychelles coral island in the Indian Ocean. It is located about 135 km south of the main island of Mahé and is one of the so-called Outer Islands of the Seychelles. Together with the 171 km southeastern island Coëtivy it is counted for statistical group of " Southern coral islands ".

Geography

The island is located in north -south direction, 1250 m long, in east-west direction up to 550 m wide and has a land area of 0.54 km ² (54 ha) on. The flat and wooded island is divided by a 900 meter-long runway that is served occasionally by the Iceland Development Company (IDC ) from Mahé. On the west coast there is a small settlement. The island has only three residents.

The island is surrounded by coral reefs, which provide openings in the north- west, a landing with boats.

The island plate belongs to a mostly submerged atoll, which covers an area of ​​about 270 square kilometers covered with an area of ​​25 by 14 kilometers.
