The Parc national des Îles- de - Boucherville is one of the 24 National Parks in the Canadian province of Québec.

There is a corresponding Parc national but what is a provincial park in the other provinces and territories.

The park corresponds to the Hochelaga Archipelago belonging archipelago Iles de Boucherville in the St. Lawrence River and is located in the extreme south of the province east of Montreal in Boucherville. The task of the 1984 furnished, only 8.14 km ² large park is to preserve the flora and fauna of the area and to ensure the protection of dating from the late 17th century buildings of the French colonial period. The government of the province to preempt at Park establishment and real estate speculators bought up the area.

History

At the archaeological site, which is called after the Borden system with BjFi -7, they found numerous vestiges of buildings from the French colonial period. They belonged to the house Boucher de Gros Bois, which was built in the late 17th century. The Gros Bois Island was used in the 20th century for leisure trips. Among them were a racecourse, kiosks and booths, pavilions and exhibition spaces. The entertainment district was known as Parc Edward II. Cooperation with the local Société d' histoire des Îles- percées, the local historical society, was admitted in 2010.

Since the 17th century agriculture was operated on the islands. The mixed culture was replaced around 1964 by monoculture, so that only maize has been planted. In establishment of the park so still 248 ha were processed within the protected area. By 2008, this area fell to 64 ha. 2012, a further 48 ha will be decommissioned by 2016 agriculture should be permanently discontinued. 1974 were the first studies to take the fish spawning grounds, which contributed significantly to place the area under protection.

Fauna

The maps - bump tortoise tortue here called Geographical location was first recorded in an inventory of 2003. She lives mainly in the Marais, the wetlands of the Nordarms of Chenal Grande- Rivière and on Charron Island. Also endangered snakes, Nerodia sipedon as live in the park.

In mammals coyotes and foxes were counted, the same is true for the small mammals in the park. Marsh birds were last counted in 1974. 2010, the stocks should be recorded mainly on the Saint -Jean Island. Insects were examined 2008.
