Ilha Fiscal

The Ilha Fiscal is a small island in the bay of Guanabara. It is one of the historic part of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

The present name of the island was originally designated by the Europeans as Mouse Island derives from the carried out since the 19th century from use as a control / customs station. Today, the area lying adjacent to the Naval Arsenal Rio de Janeiro island houses a naval museum.

Became famous for the island by last big celebration of the Empire Brazil before the deposition of the Emperor Peter II of Brazil and the proclamation of the first Brazilian Republic. The celebration in November 1889, da Ilha Fiscal ( German about: Dancing on the Ilha Fiscal ) as Baile known.
