Ilkka Laitinen

Ilkka Laitinen ( born August 22, 1962 in Nurmes, Finland) since May 2005 director of the Warsaw-based Frontex, the " European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders ".

Before his appointment as Frontex Director Laitinen worked for the Finnish Border Guard, most recently as a brigadier general. At the European level it was concerning in particular the Schengen issue Greece and Turkey is concerned.

Ilkka Laitinen has conceded that are towed in protecting Europe's borders, at least every now and then, even the illegal " push-back method " is applied, in which refugee boats back to sea and left to their fate.
