Illuminate (band)
Illuminate is a band from Karlsruhe, which was founded by John Berthold 1993.
History
The members of the band changed several times, especially the female vocals have been sung over the years by various singers. The current lineup consists of John Berthold, who is known as " mastermind " of the band for the song writing, the male vocals, and electronically -established instruments responsible, Sylvia Berthold (vocals and songwriting ), Jörn Langenfeld ( guitar), John Knees Keyboard and Stefan Dittrich (drums). One of the biggest successes was the fourth place of the song " Dark Light" in the German Alternative Charts 2000.
The band's name is derived from the Latin word for " full of light, beaming " from and has no relationship to the secret society of the Illuminati.
The previously playing at Mystic Prophecy drummer Stefan Dittrich took over the drummer item after Mathias Kurth left the band in 2009.
Style
The early albums are often mentioned in connection with the New German Death Art, but for the later albums, this association is no longer justified.
Typical of the Illuminate are carried by piano melodies. In the later albums increasingly flowed electro-pop elements. In the songs themes of love, loss, longing and the transience are discussed.
