Imagawayaki

Imagawayaki (Japanese今川 焼き, dt " Imagawa pastry " ) is a Japanese pastry round. It consists of flour, egg and sugar.

Traditionally, it is filled with Anko, a sweet paste made from red and white beans. There are other fillings, such as chocolate cream, vanilla cream ( Custardcreme ) and others. A similar dish is the Taiyaki.

The name Imagawayaki arose because the pastry during the An'ei era (1772-1782) of the Edo period was sold by a shop near the Imagawa Bridge in Kanda, Edo for the first time.
