Clickable Graphic ( engl. image map ) is a term used in web design and also refers to multimedia programs. It provides a way to embed hyperlinks within a graphic. This can be realized with the variable shape = as rectangular (rect ), round (circle ) or free ( poly) buttons that such references ( anchor links ) behave in the hypertext of an HTML document. In general, a changing cursor indicates the invisible buttons. Clickable Image Maps are used in both picture and video files.
On websites frequently encountered examples are maps identifying specific regions lead to the corresponding pages. Another example are often " interactive " Advent in winter.

Definition in HTML
A defined in HTML image map consists of an actual image that is defined with an image tag. At the same time an attribute is specified usemap in this, that refers to the image map.
