In Amenas

In Amenas (Arabic: إن أميناس in Amina ) is a city in the province of Illizi in eastern Algeria, about 30 km from the Libyan border. It has about 5000 inhabitants. About 45 km to the west is the conveyor of the gas field Tiguentourine, the scene of the hostage-taking of In Amenas was in January 2013.
